Phalaenopsis stuartiana
Native to Mindanao in the Philippines (sea level to 300m elevation), growing epiphytically on tree trunks in hot, humid valleys. For Australian growers, it is a strict warm grower that requires heavily filtered shade and high humidity year-round. It thrives in summer days of 28°C–32°C and needs winter night temperatures to stay strictly above 15°C–16°C to maintain health; a heated glasshouse or warm indoor space is mandatory over winter in the southern states, paired with slightly reduced watering and careful attention to keep the roots from sitting in stagnant, cold moisture.
