Howeara Lava Burst ‘Puanani’ AM/AOS - clones
This is a popular, compact, and easy-to-grow orchid hybrid known for its vibrant, red-colored flowers and mild fragrance. It is a reliable, free-blooming variety that makes an excellent subject for beginner and experienced growers alike. It is an intergeneric hybrid resulting from a cross between Leochilus, Oncidium, and Rodriguezia genera.
Appearance: This is a miniature orchid, growing in a tight clump of small, tear-shaped pseudobulbs. The flowers are relatively small but numerous and bright red, appearing on arching spikes. Roots are very fine and delicate.
Blooming: It is a prolific and reliable bloomer, capable of flowering multiple times a year, often with several spikes at once. The long-lasting flowers can persist for up to two months.
Care Instructions
This orchid thrives in bright, indirect light, with an east-facing window or these days LED grow lights being suitable options. Consistent moisture is important for the fine root system; the potting medium should be kept moist but not waterlogged, and allowed to dry slightly between waterings. Intermediate to warm temperatures (13-30°C) and moderate humidity (50–70%) with good air circulation are ideal. Use a fine-grade, well-draining orchid mix and repot every 1-2 years. Fertilise regularly with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser, particularly during active growth.
