Holcoglossum quasipinifolium
A miniature, monopodial epiphytic orchid endemic to the high-altitude montane forests of Taiwan (1800–2800m). It has needle-like leaves and showy white flowers. To thrive in Australia, it requires cool to intermediate conditions with daytime temperatures between 15°C and 25°C and a significant drop at night to approximately 9°C–14°C; it can tolerate brief dips to near freezing but must be protected from frost. It demands very bright, filtered light to ensure successful blooming in late winter or spring. This species prefers its roots to dry out rapidly between frequent waterings during the summer growth phase, requiring excellent air circulation. It is ideally grown mounted on cork or in small, well-draining baskets with a minimal, coarse substrate like tree fern fibre to mimic its natural habit of clinging to tree trunks in misty, breezy environments.
