A hardy, warm-growing epiphyte that thrives in Australia’s tropical and subtropical regions, though it can be grown in temperate zones if kept in a sheltered greenhouse. This orchid loves a bright spot with plenty of filtered sunlight—think around 50% shade in the heat of summer—and needs excellent air movement to stay healthy. During the active growing season, it enjoys a thorough drenching every few days when the mix dries out, but as winter approaches, you must pull back on the water significantly to give it a proper dry rest, which is essential for triggering those iconic pink or white flower spikes on its mature, leafless canes. It's happiest in a free-draining mix of bark and charcoal, ideally in a small terra cotta pot or mounted on cork, and can handle typical Australian summer highs up to 36°C, provided humidity is kept high. Ensure you protect it from frost and cold winds, as it prefers night temperatures to stay above 10°C to 13°C, if left outside in winter, make sure they are completely dry.
