Dendrobium amabile
A hardy epiphytic orchid native to Vietnam and Hainan, China, prized for its spectacular, honey-scented floral displays. This species produces pendulous clusters of light pink or mauve flowers featuring distinct golden-yellow centres, which typically bloom from late spring into summer. It is characterised by its tall, grooved, dark canes and thick leathery leaves, thriving best in bright, filtered light with high humidity and consistent air circulation. Unlike many of its relatives, D. amabile does not require a harsh winter dormancy, making it a relatively easy-to-grow choice for collectors who can provide a slight reduction in water and cooler temperatures during the winter months.
