Cattleya eldorado x outcross (image shows one of the parents)
Native to the central Amazon basin in Brazil (below 300m elevation), growing epiphytically in hot, highly humid lowland forests. For Australian growers, it is a strict warm grower that demands high humidity and intermediate to bright light. It thrives in summer temperatures of 28°C–34°C+ and requires winter night temperatures to stay strictly above 15°C–16°C, making a heated glasshouse essential in most southern states, alongside a slightly reduced watering schedule during its winter rest.
