Bulbophyllum medusae
A warm-growing epiphytic orchid native to Southeast Asia that thrives in the humid, tropical, and subtropical climates of Australia, particularly in Queensland or heated greenhouses further south. To care for this species, provide bright but filtered light (avoiding the harsh midday sun) and maintain temperatures between 18°C and 30°C, ensuring the plant never drops below 13°C for extended periods. It requires high humidity (above 60%) and must be kept consistently moist year-round with frequent watering in summer and a slight reduction in winter. It is best suited to being mounted on cork or grown in shallow slat baskets with sphagnum moss to accommodate its creeping growth habit and wandering rhizomes.
