Macroclinium aurorae - species
Fan-shaped miniature plants are tinged with purple, arching spikes carry a miniature fireworks display of tiny purple and white flowers, each globe-like umbel holds about a dozen wispy blossoms.
Our plants grow happy mounted between 19-33°C with frequent watering while allowing them to dry out completely between watering. They seem happy with temperatures down to 14/15°C at night.
Bright light (not direct sun) seems to be beneficial. MUST BE PROTECTED DURING HOT AND DRY SUMMER HEATWAVES - being so tiny, they won't survive a day without water when it's hot. They have minimal reserves and roots are super thin. If grown outside during summer, they must be brought indoors. Some days can be quite cool but very dry and windy, they will also dehydrate quite fast, under those conditions.
They tend to grow tiny orchid pups (keikis) even before they flower, so eventually forming a nice clump with amazing flower display.
ONLY FOR EXPERIENCED GROWERS (preferable with automatic misting/irrigation system or indoor climate controlled grow room).
PLEASE NOTE THESE PLANTS ARE VERY SMALL - 4-5cm as a mature/flowering size plant, mounted on/attached to twigs!
